#3: Trek Big Ring Classic presente Nine Mile Forest ~ Wausau, WI
From The Director...
Trek Store of Wausau presents,
Big Ring Classic This WORS event is consistently one of the top drawing races in the series. Staged at one of the Midwest’s premier cross-country skiing areas, Nine Mile Forest, it takes full advantage of this area’s abundant single track and wide open rolling ski trails and adds a bit of double track to provide mountain bikers with a two wheeled thrill ride. Nine Mile is just 4 miles west of Wausau and with over 25 combined miles of wide fast rolling cross country ski trails and twisting rocky single track through the forest, this expansive trail network offers numerous options for course placement. The single track of this race course will keep you tightly gripping the bars and searching for the best line however, racers will need to be prepared to shift to their big ring as they roll out onto the ski trail segments. Whether your forte is hammering on the wide open rolling hills or carving a line through technical terrain, you’re assured a great ride at this event. Nine Mile also allows for a longer overall course with less lapping making for a more enjoyable racing experience for all. New changes to the course in spring 2010 will keep the veterans interested again this season. Pre-riding will begin at noon on Saturday and all riding a bike within the boundaries of Nine Mile will need to comply with a $4 trail fee (one pass will be good for both Saturday and Sunday). There will be limited on site rough camping available Friday and Saturday, on a first-come first-serve basis, with porta-potties, water, and limited fires based on forest regulations. For other camping and lodging arrangements, please call the Wausau / Central Wisconsin Visitors Bureau at 1-888-948-4748. The Trail run returns as part of the WORS trail run series. Race for the series or race for the day. Running begins Sunday am. Campers and racers, plan to have dinner with us Saturday night from 4-8pm in the lodge! Pasta feed plus! Great price, great food! Make sure you are at Nine Mile for the The Big Ring Classic! Presented by MPR: Muddy Paws Racing, “Promoting dirt in the Midwest”
