#9: Reforestation Ramble Reforestation Camp ~ Suamico, WI
From The Director...
The Reforestation Ramble has enjoyed great success in its two seasons on the WORS schedule and we are very excited to announce its return with a similar layout and format. The Marathon Series is no longer part of WORS but lives on at the Reforestion Ramble, we believe much of the success from past seasons clearly came from distinct differences in the overall series layout and the different styles of racing that came with the diverse race venues. This year you will find some of the fast rolling double track ski trails from last year, with a blended variety of technical single track taking you through several distinct natural communities in the camp. Pine groves and rolling groves of American elm and aspen make the single track fast and enjoyable, while being technically challenging. You won’t find any mind numbing climbs, but much like last year, you will find yourself begging for the finish. The later date gives racers of all types one last ramp up for the Chequamegon 40, which takes place three weeks after the Ramble….so come on out for one last high mileage race as you prepare for the 40! Expect to find gravel, dirt, mud, and fantastic pine grove single track that will take you on a scenic, friendly, flowing tour through the camp. Although there is limited climbing, don’t underestimate the short bursts and technical nature of the single track with over 10 miles of single track cleverly hidden in this Brown County park.
Although Sunday is race day, be sure to stop out Saturday for pre-riding, the Vendor/Exhibitor Zone, and Learn to Race clinics. Pre-riding will begin at 11:00 am on Saturday. Like most state and county trails, a trails/rider fee is required and will be collected at registration, with two day deals available. Plenty of lodging is conveniently located on either of the major highways, 43 or 41. Rough camping will be available close by at a nominal fee. Please remember that because of this events close proximity to the N.E.W. Zoo, there are no pets allowed at this venue.
Course Description
Much like Nine Mile Forest, the riding is fast and exhilarating, so come ready to have fun. Expect to ride on gravel, rocks, roots, pine needles, soft dirt, hard dirt, and bog spots.
