Contest Rules
There are no limitations on who can enter the WORS 2004 Photo Contest.
Contest ends October 15th, 2004. Winners will be announced at the WORS Awards Banquet on October 30th, 2004.
Photos must be taken at a 2004 WORS event (includes events that took place prior to contest announcement).
Photos must only be submitted by the
original photographer.
Photos may be taken with either a digital or
film camera (see photo specifications for each medium below).
There is no limit on the number of
entries an individual may submit, but you are strongly encouraged to limit yourself
to submitting your favorite photos (making the judges wade through 200 of your photographs will detract from the value of any one photo).
Only one winner per household.
CDs and other materials sent to WORS will not be returned.
All submissions grant WORS Racing
permissions and rights to store and display the photograph
indefinitely for use with WORS advertising, promotional materials
(including but not limited to the Racer Handbook and WORS Calendar), and
website (www.wors.org and all subdomains thereof).
Digital Photograph Rules and
Guidelines
Image dimensions: Idealy, images should be no less than 1600 x 1200
(measured in pixels). Submissions not meeting this size guideline will be
accepted, however, photos smaller than the listed size may look pixilated
when printed in large format and such a
factor will contribute to the judging. Note for image size: Larger
= Better.
Resolution: As a guideline, 150-300 dpi . Submissions not meeting this
guideline will be accepted, however, photos taken with a smaller
resolution than listed may look pixilated when printed in large format and
such a factor will contribute to the judging.
Note: Guidelines are just that...Guidelines. A
photograph of 1704x2272 at 150 dpi will produce a 'medium quality' 11" x
14" print. These guidelines are not absolute. Photograph quality is also
heavily affected by lighting, lens, and camera quality. These guidelines
are not meant to discourage anyone from entering the contest, simply a
recommendation for achieving quality photographs.
Photographs may be digitally edited to
improve photo quality (color balance, etc). Special effects may also be
employed, though not strongly encouraged.
Film Photograph Rules and Guidelines
There are no restrictions on film,
filters, lenses, speeds, etc.
Photographs may be digitally scanned and
would then fall under the Digital Photograph Rules and Guidelines as
listed above.
Photographs must be submitted as individual photographs (ex: 4x6 print)
rather than a proof sheet.
Contest winners submitting photographs in this manner will be asked to
submit a negative for enlargements.
